About the Internet
What is the Internet?
According to Wikipedia. The Internet is a publicly accessible series of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching through the use of Internet Protocol (IP). Its a “network of networks” that carry various information and services , such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, and the interlinked web pages and other resources of the World Wide Web (WWW).
The Internet and the World Wide Web are not synonymous. The Internet is a collection of interconnected computer networks, linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, etc. In contrast, the World Wide Web is a collection of interconnected documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs. The World Wide Web is one of the services accessible via the Internet, along with various others including e-mail, file sharing, online gaming, etc.
The development of the Internet started in 1957 while the World Wide Web was invented in 1989. There are a lot of conflicting data about these dates but more important is when it had an impact on our lives. It was in the 1990’s that the internet became popular together with the advent of powerful and reasonably priced personal computers.
The Internet explosion, as we call it, also brought about new business models such as Internet Marketing. Numerous ways of earning income from the Internet has sprung up and people who are quick to adapt to the opportunities it offered has benefited from it. A lot of people has asked me if you can earn a decent living from the Internet… and the answer is a big “Yes!” In fact, some people earn millions of dollars per year from the Internet.
The Internet has revolutionized how things are done in the business world. It has leveled the playing field between small, medium and big businesses in so many ways. Gone are the days when starting a business that could earn you big income also requires big capitalization. Advertising all throughout the world is no longer an issue for small businesses.
The real opportunities the Internet provides for people who want to earn money online comes in terms of:
- Cost vs. Benefit
- Ease of Access to Markets
- Fast Payoff
- Low Cost of Experimentation (Big Margin for Errors)
Today, you can turn a few hundred dollars into an empire using the Internet and its resources. Everything that can be sold off-line can be sold online, but not everything sold online can be sold off-line. (e.g. digital or downloadable products)
The Internet is here to stay but the question is: Are you ready for it? Are you ready to adapt to the changes it has brought?
If you answered “NO.” to the questions above, I highly suggest that you catch up double time. The ability and speed to adapt to these changes could make or break your businesses.
I’ll discuss more on “ways of earning income online” in my future posts.
To YOUR Success,
Eric Delos Santos
